What's the Connection?
Explaining the Bill of Rights "Menorah"

So you've seen our Bill of Rights "Menorah" and don't quite get it. What's the connection between the two?

The Menorah is a commonly recognized symbol of Hanukkah, which celebrates the Jewish war for independence in the second century B.C., in which Jews gained freedom from oppression against overwhelming odds.

In much the same way, the Bill of Rights celebrates the unlikely victory of the fledgling American forces over the far superior British forces. It also represents freedom from oppression - the oppressive tyranny of King George over the colonists.

Thus, we've created the Bill of Rights "Menorah", merging the two distinct but similar legacies. The candles of our "Menorah" show how the Bill of Rights are under attack...and how some rights are dying, or dead.
